I imagine that if you told Little Monkey and Categories and Sheaves a knock-knock joke they would regail us with tales of woodcraft and the formula for obtaining the elastic modulus of wood and then go into great detail on how the damping effects of the material the door is made of will effect changes in the sound it makes when struck, depending on what type of gloves the knocker wears when knocking.
