"See me, smell me, taste me, touch me - trade what you have for me, take me with you where you go."
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It's useful to note that in your response one can see the jingling of the assumption that some sort of sentience is required to exert influence - to have power, in thinking of an example where something has power over you - you chose a lion. Corn has more power over you than a any lion has ever leveraged over any hominid - even if you've never seen a single ear of it.I assumed you were speaking of animals because in my first post there, I used 'they' to refer to animals. But cool story, bro. Real deep. 10/10. Would read again.
A good introduction to what Rhythm is talking about would be Michael Pollan's "The Botany of Desire," Gilg.

Hey bud, I'm not trying to ruffle your feathers -in that way- just suggesting that you look at the situation in a light which you are unaccustomed to and then run that "we have power over them" bit against that glimpse beyond the veil.
I thought it was a fitting addition to a thread entitled - "childhood indoctrination" (maybe we should call that publisher and extract a dime or two out of them Summer..feel like a fucking booster lately..lol - speaking of books...summer..I may or may not have "happened upon" about 8k titles for kindle :ahem: free of drm - including those we're constantly referencing)

I was just thinking the other day about how some people are so gentle they'll capture a spider in their house and release it into the wild. I was thinking, what if it was a tick? I think anyone in their right mind would kill the little bastard rather than risk Lyme Disease. If something would kill you given the opportunity, I don't think you should feel bad about killing it (if it's not endangered like a lion). It's just the natural order of things. Yeah, chickens and cows usually don't eat people but pigs can be scary. In conclusion, we should all eat more bacon.

Someone has obviously never fostered a seed from out of the fruit they ate and watched it grow.
I'm thinking of planting the avocado pit I extracted...what say you, Irish? RE: Childhood indoctrination

To me, it doesn't matter what you say or what the animal would say. Morality is subjective. There ya go, now maybe you can string my posts to your own. They also have "power over us" and use us as a resource. The exact balance of this relationship is a bit more difficult to establish than any one-sided appraisal would hope for it to be. The ubiquitous "They" being not just the livestock, but the crops as well.

Think about the farmer tirelessly tilling a single crop. We think it was because we chose the most desirable strain. That strain, in its way, won the lottery by being the most 'desirable' and now we spread its seed everywhere.
Who is whose bitch, Gilg? |
