RE: Persecution of atheists

Well, here is short story to put it for ya all lil' bit more in perspective ...
I was in official Bosnian military and as you all know (I hope), our civil war was about, among few other reasons, religious in nature.
Imagine atheist there who had to choose side, haha, I was on one for unified Bosnia, not for country further separated in ethnically (every ethnic group is of different religion) clean 3 different states.
Anyways, long story short, I was captured by the other (croat/christian) side and put into their military prison (for "treason" apparently ???) and beaten up for days ...
Then, they questioned me and one of the questions was what religion I am. Well, silly me, I said that I'm not religious and that was a big mistake ...
I was brutally tortured (Guantanamo style for more then 2 days, can't remember) and told that that was for not believing in god. They thought that I was muslim because I have muslim name (well, fuck my parents for giving it to me, lol), and they said that they would rather fight someone who they believe to be wrong about god then someone who thinks that they are all are wrong about god.
Luckily I had "friend" in higher ranks of their military who heard I was captured and he "intervened" so they dropped the subject, labeled me as muslim and shipped me in one of those fine establishments better known as concentration camps where I stayed for 11 months. After that I was rescued by International Red Cross from Geneva and given choice to go pretty much anywhere in the world and start normal life.
So, I do not really feel that prosecuted here in America, got dirty looks more then few times, asked so many stupid ass questions about my disbelief, excommunicated by some who I thought were my friends, my brother thinks I'm going straight to hell, but overall, it's not that bad, considering what I been through
