I work with a girl who buys glasses in T K Maxx for the frames, then takes them to Specsavers and they send them off to be fitted with her lenses. I'm looking online now. Problem is I can't tell if they're too small or not

I liked this site (you're in the US right?)... and they have a sizing guide! http://www.framesdirect.com/landing/a/me...-size.html RE: How are you today?

You should get the sizes off frames in the shop.
Mine are 44-20-140 Height of lens - width of bridge - length of arm The arm length isn't so important, and the lens height is better larger if you need varifocals (like me). Most online places do free home trials. RE: How are you today?

No-one's gonna want to look at me, let alone be with me, like this. It was especially distressing since up to then I'd always looked much younger than I was. What's weirder is the greyness spread so far and then seemed to just stop. Certain areas of me are still my natural mid-brown colour, such as the back half of my head, my chest (I was always Sam's "big hairy gorilla" ) and - um - other regions. Everywhere else is now a silvery white; in fact my arms and hands look like I shave them, the hair's so fine and invisible. Sad to relate, I now dye it back to a more natural dark brown and, combined with contact lenses instead of my astonishingly powerful glasses, I've often been mistake for 35 and sometimes younger. What I would love to do, if I could work up the moxie, is to go into some high street opticians - say, SpecSavers - peer up at the boards behind the counter, then when someone says "can I help you?" squint at them and say "Big Mac meal, please".
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
I'm in an ambulance right now. Taking my Grandfather back to the hospital. Hmm.

The how are you? question is an overrated and overused question of an irrelevant social construct. I never answer the questions just as no one asking truly wants to hear the truth that I am feeling awful. I would rather ignore the question than place the other individual in such an uncomfortable position under which they are placing me by asking me that question.

Answer honestly. They asked, they deserve the consequences... and you'll get to vent... I think of that as win-win. Perhaps, people would be less likely to bandy this question about if more people answered it honestly, instead of just saying, "Fine, and you?" |
