I would say no if asked by a kid with religious parents. I think the kid doesn't need one more adult misrepresenting the truth to her. But i do understand it's hard because we usually don't meddle in how people bring up their kids, and if the parents say A, we pretend it's A around the kid. But since the child asked if you "believed", she knows it's a belief system and that some people don't believe. Right? it's not like she's asking you if she can have ice cream before dinner.
Then again, what do I know about kids.

I guaran-dam-tee you that when my own kids ask me if I believe in God I'll be perfectly honest.

This question has also prepared me to ponder what I would say to my own children. I have often thought about what to say when my children ask me this question.
Going back to my original question, It simply amazed me that a 5 year old would ask that. But then again, the mind of a 5 year old is so fresh, vibrant, and full of inquiry.

What You do in that instance is say, "sorry honey, I will be right back", approach her parents and scold them for giving her the black and white life.
