I Should Tell Him...Nah, He's Pretty Old.

Alright so I wanna know what you guys think.
My great grandpa is 97 years old and he was a reverend for over half of his life, now retired of course.
He asked me recently why I never come to church and I didn't have the heart to tell him that I didn't believe and I think church is horse shit. I also don't think he knows that I'm a lesbian.
Should I tell him the truth, or do you think that would send his 97 year-old heart into cardiac arrest? Not to be insensitive, but I don't think he has a lot of years left, so should I just wait it out?

I told my grandmother, but she's a very healthy seventy years old, if not quite that old. At ninety seven, I'm not sure if it's worth telling him. Then again, you need to have some reason to not start going to church for a year or so until he dies.

I have various pathetic excuses that range from, "I'm not feeling well" to "Well, I've been really tired because I've been working so much lately."

Same here. Some of these old fucks are too indoctrinated adding the pride that old agers seem to feel, to do any good for them. Just let him die, There is no utility for your life in telling him that.

Unless his mind is going he probably has already considered the possibility or he wouldn't have asked.

It's not something I'd bring up, but if I were asked directly, I'd tell the truth. That being said, I'm not hiding my atheism from my extended family, either. Does your family know about your (lack of) beliefs?

No need to tell him anything.
He's not too far off from meeting his maker, so why put the slightest doubt in his head now.
And when he's gone, he's gone!
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.
