Not defending her or anything, but I'm pretty sure saying "y'all" is out of pure habit. It's kind of a thing here in the south, and I used "kind of" VERY loosely. My mother and I used to watch Paula Deen all the time and I never really noticed it, her saying "y'all".
I used to say it, too. However, I've been trying to get rid of my southern drawl, first order of business being to stop using the slang and start enunciating. I've already stopped with the slang. *sigh*


And plaincents822, I think my mother would probably agree with you. She was ready to defend Paula Deen until I told her about the plantation wedding. That was where she drew the line. She's black. Tongue

Same here. That plantation stuff was the deal breaker.
