That sentence makes no sense. So she wanted to make sure Zimmerman didn't get away with murder, but she also believes that the case should not have gone to trial?!?
Sounds like she is a bit confused about the justice system.

Unfortunately, being that she was one of the jurors, yes.

I know trial by jury is supposed to be a very well revered right, but sometimes the concept scares me. Why should we trust six random people?

How dare you!
Can you think of any better experts to review evidence given by experts on law, forensic sience and other fields which then build up a case against an individual. And to then determin if that evidence is adds up or does not add up t declare a person guilty or not guilty?
Who better to determine that than a bunch of people who probably dont even understand half of the stuff they are presented in court?
I am not fund of that system. Here the evidence is presented to a judge and two witnessing judges who then determin guilt/not guilt and the verdict. Of course in this system many trials can be streched into being longer because a judge who has previously expressed political views that might cloud his or her objectivity or has releations which might have brought him into contact with the defendandt has to be replaced.

The alternative is that a judge or panel of judges makes the decision. The problem is, that gives the judge a lot of power, and as we all know...power corrupts. There are numerous cases of corrupt judges passing down judgements that favor them rather than actually reflect the legality of the case.
A jury shouldn't just be six random people though; this is why jury selection is a long process. You need to establish that no members of the jury have any biases towards the case or conflicts of interest.

Sounds like she is a bit confused about the justice system. She is confused about a whole other justice system, as well:
Quote:you can't get away from God. And at the end of the day, [Zimmerman]'s going to have a lot of questions and answers he has to deal with.
Her stance seems to be that it sucks that she couldn't stop Zimmerman from getting away with murder, but it's okay... god will take care of it later on!
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Like the power to drive around a gated community, deciding who is (and who is not) acting "suspiciously". With a gun.
