Which forum members would you like to meet?

RE: Which forum members would you like to meet?
I think I'd enjoy meeting just about all of you folks. Most of the regulars here are pretty sharp and have at least a decent sense of humor, and that usually makes for a good time.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

You left out "sexy as hell" but you're welcome.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Heck, I'd even bring a few bottles of homemade wine. GC, Statler Waldorf, and Drich could even come but I have a feeling they'd be all sitting in that table in the corner whispering to each other and looking down upon everyone else.

Not Drich. He'd be going from table to table getting you to sign a release to use your conversation with him for his research while trying still to save your heathen soul. GC would work hard to convince you to avoid hell before finally condemning you there himself because of your irreverent answers. Statler Waldorf would be the life of the party, quipping off whatever anyone else said and I doubt he'd seat himself with the 'choir'.

There are lots of people here I'd enjoy meeting although I generally loath cocktail hour conversation set-ups. Stimbo would keep me amused. I'd feel compelled to plumb Chad to find the limits of his agnosticism though it would be safer and probably more fun to ask him about painting and to discuss the creative process generally. Jonb would have been a good one to include in that conversation if he were still around along with SummerQueen and Violet too.

Summer, Kichi & Zen, and I along with Popeye's Pappy and Texas Sailor would probably want to wonder through any available garden to talk about what we like.

With Apo, Rhythm and Genkaus I'd struggle to keep up with their pace and references, but I'd probably try at least for a while.

If the Rev was around I could listen to him and laugh all day long. As an added bonus we could talk about politics and for that conversation we'd definitely need Min and Germans and Abba-man, and for the other side, unless we wanted to keep it copacetic, we'd need to bring in Tiberius, A Theist and others.

In real life, most of my friendships are with women. But here I enjoy talking across a wide spectrum of topics with lots of younger guys. So at some point I'd want a beer and the company of Esquilax, Texas Sailor, BadwriterSparty, Tonus, Rahul, Psychronic, Ryantology and Doubting Thomas (along with those escaping my memory at the moment). But true to my nature I'd also want to chat and flirt wistfully with the young vixens in the house including Summer, Nora, Ivy, MsLucky, Pineapplebouncebunny, Festive, Futilethewinds, Kayenna and all the others who my frail memory won't give to me at the moment.

Kayenna, Pappy, Summer, Chthulhu and I would have to talk about our dogs at some point .. if we opened it to pets generally we'd be sure to hear from Rayaan and MsBunny.

At some point I'd want to talk with people interested in where-do-we-go-from-here, once we recognize we're never going to agree on the whole god question. For that conversation I'd want to start with Fr0d0, Mr Agenda, Chas and look to draw in as many more as were interested.

SW and myself would get into it just like we do on the board here. About half an hour into it I'd look to Fr0d0 with pleading eyes, and he would just laugh and shake his head. A Long Island Iced Tea would cool me down right away, and then SW and I would talk about normal stuff for a bit... As much as we might want to keep religious talk to a minimal, I think it would be unavoidable in a setting like this.

When I was a regular over on .com, rexbeccarox and some others of us in San Diego and Orange Counties were trying pretty hard to organize a get together at a local restaurant, but that eventually fizzled. I agree with whateverist that cocktail convos can get a bit tedious or awkward or whatever.

If I knew some definite soccer fans, then I'd get together at a pub with them, like I used to do in Pittsburgh, PA, and watch some MLS or EPL or USNT.That way, when conversation dies out, we don't need to stare at one another awkwardly.

I know that Rahul lives here in Texas. A meet-up with him would be interesting as well as feasible.

I would welcome any one of you to sit and talk for any amount of time. We have all found our way to this forum because we enjoy talking about a certain subject more than the average person does.

This tells me that a face to face round-table may be more enjoyable than I could possibly imagine. If we are adding alcohol to the conversation, all bets are off.

Whateverist and Frodo are 2 opposite sides of the same coin. I enjoy the conversation and insight that they offer. Sometimes I enjoy just reading their exchanges, but having them over to my beach to watch water and enjoy adult beverages sounds like the making for an awesome day.

Raul is an ex-Navy Sailor from Texas, so he obviously gets a pass, and I hope that he stops to pick-up badwritersparty along the way.

Minimalist is more than welcome to the beach too, I fear that he will soon strip down and begin running up and down stomping out children's sand-sculptures, but that too may be fun.

An even keel of conflicting beliefs would be ideal, but I would value the real life discussions that we could have. Think of the time saved!! Instead of getting carpal tunnel, typing away violently....We could just yell our opinions at each other. Rhythm could give his jack-off gestures in person! What a marvelous day it would be! You're all welcome anytime. Just don't pee on my rug (cleanshavenjesus)

Actually, three of us from the forum did get together several times, starting about 4 1/2 years ago, and two of us still communicate. The other one and I ended up dating for a year and he broke my heart over a year ago, so I cut off contact with him. I have another very close friend from .com who lives in a... hostile country, so I'm not sure if we'll ever get to "meet".

C172- do you remember you were thinking about taking the train up to Cbad to my shop?
