The amusing thing is that "Hillbillies" were anti-southern against Plantation slave-owners. They fought against the Confederacy even though they lived in the fringes of the Southern area.

They lived in the wooded hills where agriculture was not worth owning slaves. "Hillbillies" hated Southern Slave owners. They were "Union" men.

So to call what you think are raciest, white, southern Americans "Hillbillies" is kindof ironic.

The meaning of words change over centuries, it does not matter what the word meant 100 or 200 years ago. At least it does not matter for todays social field. The French were seen as the most militant people of Europe until 1945, the Germans were seen as dreamish romantic idealists until 1870, the Russians were seen as hopelessly conservative and backwards until 1917. Brits were seen as brutal and cruel Imperialists until 1949. Non of these "dead assosciations" matter in todays perception of those people. What you do today - creats the image you have today.

Unless you've had a surprising amount of experience with hillbillies, I'm pretty sure I get what the origin of your stereotypes is.

Like experience with Considering that the person mentioned above opens a thread in which he warns people of a non existing threat against "whites" by a black conspiracy and has previously opened one of the mysogenist threads of this forum and judging by his behavior in general - I can only conclude that the southern stereotype of the racist hillbilly is based on a reality and hence have no problem using these insulting terms when talking of him. And when they insult him - the better, maybe that way he will realise that it is him and his behavior which caused things like such stereotyps in the first place.

If a thread was opened up by a black woman about her irrational fears concerning a conspiracy by white people, would you throw around 'ghetto' or 'hysterical woman' stereotypes?

Resorting to stereotypes in a discussion is like using a grenade when a bullet would do. People you weren't aiming to hit are going to be pissed at you.

The discussion part ended well before I resorted to stereotyps. I started using these when A Theist refused to bring forward arguments that proved his racist conspiracy and when he started to blame others for the lack of ground on which his conspiracy stands.

Need I remind you what the title of this thread is? What his initial post is? He might aswell spend his time burning crosses on his weekends from what one can read here.

The word "southern" is used as an adverb in describing the word "hillbilly" and not for describing you, you selfimportant racist.
