Not my definition of trolling, i gave him a negative rep because over the last few posts in various threads he has chosen to stack up more questions, challenge the terminology and structure of the question and ignore it completely rather than actually give a damn answer.

Arcanus is dealing with your questions logically and you insult and make antagonistic comments in reply. Finally you give him unwarranted negative rep! Trolling.

Weird... it would appear that definitions vary? Smile I can see where VOID is coming from in noting that Arcanus usually deals with apparent lingual errors... and often leaves the questions themselves unanswered. I would guess that his antagonism and inclination to insult is due to his frustration at having his points ignored when Arcanus knows full-well what he means Smile

Yes, that is exactly it.

He's worse than fr0d0 in the sense he tries to make you think he isn't dodging questions by using spin! He's make a great politician... but i'm getting tired of it.

Nope. Trolling is when you go to a forum for the specific purpose of disrupting it. For example, the person who created new accounts to throw insults into the shoutbox = troll. Albert Kopsho who went around giving negative reps "for being an atheist" that's a troll. Getting into an argument and having things get heated is not trolling. Giving a negative rep is not trolling unless you do it to multiple for no reason.

Not true. Any theologian worth his salt knows about these conflicts and contradictions. There are doublets through the entire Bible that contradict themselves. There are apologetic books that try in vain to reconcile these conflicts.

The Christians and Jews that "Get it" either have not actually read the Bible and so they believe what they are told, or do not look closely enough when they did.

Furthermore, you stance is an argument from incredulity. Just because you can't believe the Bible was created and read by millions of people with so many contradictions, doesn't mean they don't exist.

Yes, as Bart Ehrman writes in "Jesus Interrupted:"

Page 5

Quote:The bible is filled with discrepancies, many of them irreconcilable contradictions. Moses did not write the Pentateuch and Matthew, Mark, Luke and John did not write the Gospels. There are other books that did not make it into the Bible that at one time or another were considered Canonical -- other Gospels, for example allegedly written by Jesus' followers Peter, Thomas, and Mary. The Exodus probably did not happen as described in the old Testament. The conquest of the Promised Land is probably based on legend. The Gospels are at odds on numerous points and contain nonhistorical material.

So much for inerrancy![/quote]

Indeed, I want to read that book. Right now I've been reading "Who Wrote the Bible" by Friedman which deals with the Pentateuch and shows how Moses most definitely did not write it.

It actually has a nice breakdown of the Noah's Arc doublet. Noah's arc was two separate stories that were edited together to make 1 story. In the book, Friedman shows the different stories by bolding the parts that are attribute to one write, and leaving the other text normal for the other author. You can read it whole cloth and it seems like a story with some weird repetitions, but if you read just the bold text, or just the normal text, they each read as their own unique story that are in direct contradiction with each other.

That's the best post I've ever seen you make. I have seen evidence of text that is problematic. Never any contradictions as you claim. Sure there are plenty refuted examples. I will assume that you refer to these.
