What does it mean to "bless" something?

RE: What does it mean to "bless" something?
Now I think I will try out that experiment I mentioned earlier. We'll see if the blessed cookies really are the ones that taste better.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I just ran the experiment for myself. I'd have to say that while each one was in my mouth it was the one I preferred. Unfortunately I have no way to know which one was the one I blessed. In fact, I'm not sure I'm qualified to impart a proper blessing to a cookie anyhow. I have neither the credentials nor the recipe. Oh well. (They were both pretty damned good.)

See, your experiment was flawed right from the off. Your methods were questionable, your sample size too small, your results all over the place. At least if it's done in a properly-controlled double-blind manner, the theists can say they're dismissing real science. All you got was cookies.

Wait, let me think that through...

What kind of cookies were they? What kind of bag were they sealed in? We're they store bought or home made? Did a grandmother bake them? (That's important).

I had one grandmother who couldn't bake for shit. Her cooking was atrocious, too. Must be why I preferred my other grandmother?

Hmmmm. That throws off my theory. Or perhaps you are lying about your grandmother. Or maybe the grandmother's baking you didn't like was actually the good baker and the other was the bad baker and you have poor taste in cookies. This needs further investigation. We may be on to something.

Pretending to do something without actually doing something.
