If it's schtick, why not act that way as, say, Stephen Colbert does?
It's his intent that matters, and as far as I can tell, his delivery shows that he intends people to take him seriously. So, even if it's schtick, he's not selling it as that, and that would make him worse than if he was a true believer.
Well he doesn't act the same as Stephen Colbert because he's not the same person? I mean not everyone does the same stuff. Glenn Beck has even been asked if he believes everything he says and replied that he considers himself an entertainer above everything else.

To me anyway it seems like fairly obvious acting. Like someone who sat in a room with someone and said "What can I say that will rile people up." I don't necessarily think it's the same with Limbaugh or some of the others who are true believers and probably speaking their real opinions. Also Glenn Becks background as a non-political morning shock jock should be a dead giveaway. It would be absurd to take everything Howard Stern or a non-political shock jock as what they really believe. He just failed at that and found his niche. No reason to hate on the man for that. I think people who take him seriously should reevaluate a little.
