Arrived at the cottage around three, but because Dad forgot to take the fan up (since the vent seems to work as a heater, but not as air conditioning, and the nights can be damn warm), we ended up going back out almost immediately after we got our things together so we could get a fan and also some other essentials at the Piggly Wiggly. Now to rest and watch a little Hannibal before the ceremonial first dinner at Al Johnson's.

Got a worrying feeling in my colon, Dad's afraid that the transmission in the car isn't doing well. We decided to lay low today. Although I learned that, apparently, leaving bread dough to rise 18+ hours before baking is supposed to break down the gluten. This is apparently done in Europe, but not in America.
On an interesting note, Defunctland dropped the last episode of their 6-part retrospective of Jim Henson's life and career, and it's got an fascinating structure, going through three parallel narratives: 1) the last two years of his life, from his initial pitch for The Jim Henson Hour to his untimely death (including the troubled first attempt by Disney to purchase The Muppets) 2) The big memorial service at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and 3) a synopsis of the special The Muppets Celebrate Jim Henson. Of course, as someone who was inspired to watch the complete Fraggle Rock after seeing Kevin Perjurer's take on its history (and it should be noted that, of all the six series name-dropped in this documentary, that is the only one available in full on DVD, Given that the two main stipulations Jim Henson gave for his funeral were A) that it be a celebration of his life and not a commemoration of his death, and B) that a New Orleans jazz band play, it's legitimately surprising that this obvious choice wasn't included:

Self medicating. I'm tired and sore.
I don't even remember what I did yesterday or the day before but today I got started around 6am, broke down a pickup truck load of carboard and took it to the transfer station, moved a bunch of stuff from my storage units to the new house. After that it gets hazy. I redecorated part of the garage with a a sledgehammer to rough in a bunch of electrical work in anticipation of my handydude coming tomorrow to square away my garage with some sheetrock and insulation, along with a number of other jobs I don't want to fuck with doing. i finally knocked off at about 8pm. Somewhere in between the big TV got mounted on the wall (no visible wires of course) and a bunch of stuff was put away. Accumulate nothing, kids - and when it comes time to move, sell what you can, and burn the rest where it sits. I jest. There's a lot of work to do to make everything just righr but this is such a better space than what we had so it's worth it.
When we were pulling out of the driveway for that first dinner in Door County, it was kind of rough, and Dad concluded that it was a problem with the transmission. Today, we went up to Ellison Bay to have it checked out, and the man there said there wouldn't be a problem, unless maybe the Check Engine light turned on. So, when we went out for dinner and a potential Door Shakespeare play (which is almost certainly going to be rained out), that Check Engine light turned on as soon as the car started. We strongly suspect that we're going to have to have the car replaced.
For what it's worth, it's a 2008 Saturn Vue.

Watching another episode of Long Lost Family.. Yet more families torn apart by silly religions.
Spent almost all day at Jim Olson Motors getting the 2008 Saturn Vue with a 2015 Chevy Equinox.
