I've decided that his trollship shall get no more substantive responses from me until I get one from him. Sorry Vinnyboy but you've shown yourself to be in need of tough love. Who loves you?

Why atheism is irrational

Too young, honestly, to have a full grasp of our logical faculties or the world around us. Age 13 or 14 is simply not when your mind is fully developed. This includes the vast majority of atheist intellectuals who become atheists at a young age and just engage in confirmation bias throughout their academic careers. Does that mean an 8-year old is too young to stop believing in Santa Claus? (September 24, 2013 at 11:14 pm)Vincenzo "Vinny" G. Wrote: About matters of the intellect, atheists are very superficially educated. They have a basic foundation down "EVOLUTION RULZ, GOD SUX HAHA I HAVE BIBEL VURSES THAT SUX LOL" but fundamental nuances are often glossed over or missed because their interest is not in knowing things, but in confirming what they want to be true. I can't speak for anyone else but every time I read something from an apologetics website or hear an argument for the existence of a god or the efficacy of the bible or talk to a christian or whatever I stop and have a moment where I think, "Is this going to be the thing that finally convinces me?" I continue to try very hard to set aside preconceived notions and biases when I read things; the one thing I fully admit to not doing to setting aside all notions of rationality and standards of evidence which is probably why I remain unconvinced and, consequently, an atheist. I also tend not to like debating christians on the bible precisely because I wasn't raised with it, I was never indoctrinated into a religion and I was never taught how to read the bible from a theological standpoint. I fully own up to the fact that I'm not qualified to tell Christians what their bible means, all I'm comfortable doing is telling them why I think it's total crap. And finally, I don't think GOD SUX. I don't think he exists. Quote:So of course, they would "know more" their entire existence depends on their hatred against people who believe in a God! I don't hate people who believe in a god. I think they're wrong, but I don't hate them by any stretch of the imagination. I heard an anecdote somewhat recently about a migrant worker who attended an atheist meetup or group or something that had just been set up in his area and he said, as part of his introduction, that he wasn't very smart and wondered why he didn't believe in a god because the people around him, whom he considered to be smarter than he was, all believed and he thought he was the only person alive who didn't believe in a god. I think this was in relation to a story I heard about HAFree but it's been a few months since I heard the story so don't quote me on that. I agree with whateverist. Being a genius is not a prerequisite for being an atheist. Being an intellectual is not a prerequisite for being an atheist. Being especially intelligent is not a prerequisite for being an atheist. All it takes to be an atheist is a lack of belief in any gods, no matter your IQ score, your ability to pass a chemistry test, whether you can write a Pulitzer prize winning novel or whether you can write at all.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I think that is old enough to have a good grasp of my logical faculties and the world around me. If your claim were true, nobody would be an atheist after they matured. Yet there are plenty of older atheists.
