RE: Wotcha
Welcome. You have every right to fear Americans with a hand on the bible and a finger on the button.

I too, am afraid of clowns, catheters, and Americans in that order.

Jesus is the embodiment of the best humanity has to offer (excluding the whole slavery thing). If you live by Jesus you live by love, which is what I strive for every day. We aren't much different you and I. Hopefully you aren't here to tell me I'm going to hell like your fellow brethren. Its rude.

Welcome

Thankyou. I think so too.

And no. How the bollix should I know if you're going to hell or not?! Wink. And has that EVER converted ANYONE?! If someone starts from a position of not believing in God, threatening them with hell is as logical as trying to convince them of the existence of Thor by threatening frost giants!

Short version, I think Jesus talked a lot of sense, but I have serious misgivings about the old Testament much of which appears to make no frickin sense whatsoever and Pauline writings, which kinda do, but only in places.

Sorry. It's a roundabout way of saying I'm a rubbish Christian.

Ah.... I see... you're a (recently banned) catfish!
eh?!

Ah...a Marcionite. Luckily for you your fellow xtians aren't burning your kind at the stake any more.

Welcome...provisionally.

No need to be terrified of Americans. If you're confronted by one, point over their shoulder and shout, 'Look! A socialist!'. While they're loading the gun, make good your escape.

Lol'd a bit. I'll remember that.

Maybe I could just tell them Obama DEMANDS that they breath, and make good my escape when they turn blue?

Nah that only works on some of them.

Is that what I am? I'll have to look it up.

RE: Wotcha
oh you'll find many here who are sure of all our souls final destination.
We've even got the privelage of the presence of those special theists who think murdering babies is moral if god tells you to do it! Sad thing is I've actually met one such Christian in person so I know they do exist. Sadness.

Where do you live?
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

I'm a Christian, just trying to keep perspective. I like jellied eels and nationalized healthcare and I'm terrified of Americans, catheters and clowns.

Looking forward to penetrative insight from you clever folks.

Ha.

Wotcha right back. Not a fan of eel. What part of London are you from?

Nah that only works on some of them.

But the ones it doesn't work on are the ones you don't really need to fear.

I knew the Wotcha and eel reference meant you were a Southerner. I'm from Hackney myself, originally anyway.
