Open a church. You'd make a lot more money and do a lot less work.

I am afraid I am not equal to the task of subjugating myself so vile an undertaking.

Apparently the task of "glorifying god" is second to the desire for profit. They’ve toned down their rhetoric in the interest of selling more chickens.

That they seem to be able to disregard their blatant agreement with God's hateful judgments is the clearest example of exactly how blinding religion is.

I think a large portion of christians embrace god purely for 2 fring benefits:

1. To be able to indulgent in their private hatred in the name of god.

2. To be able to hate and smarmily call it love.

I never understood why Christians are considered hateful just because we will not endorse what we consider to be a sinful sexual perversion. I could care less if two guys want to swordfight in the night, but I fail to see why I am required to approve? And why does my approval matter to them anyway?

I'd say it goes beyond mere endorsement and rises to the level of enjoyment. Christians revel in vicarious hatred they can parade in the name of religion and the freedom of its expression. It's one of their many endearing qualities.

Christians aren't considered hateful because they see homosexuality as a "sinful sexual perversion," but when they act on that idea and promote taking away people's rights based upon it. That, and when they donate money to Uganda to uphold laws against homosexuality which make it a capital offense.

Nobody's asking you to approve of homosexuality, society is just asking you to not act like assholes toward other people because they're different.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

Honestly, I think that Jesus of Nazareth had it right on his 'render unto Caeser...' bit. From that it's clear why the idea of separatiing thee political arena from the religious one ould arise in Christian Europe. And it's just a good idea for everyone involved, unless they just want to crush everyone that doesn't share their philosophical conclusions.

No one's requiring you to approve, but the hatefulness comes in when you sanctimoniously believe it is your right to pass judgement based upon your religious beliefs. And the worst part is that you seem to think that others are out of line for pointing out the hatred involved.

Rather, wooter's hatefulness comes from the fact that he imagined he is right to attempt to suppress what he does not approve in the name of a nonexistent sky bully which in his fantasy always happen to shares and licenses wooter's pet peeves.

I don't personally know any Christians that are like that although some radio preachers say some obnoxious things.

It was never about rights. Civil unions granted gay couples all the privileges and protections as married couples. They just wanted the word marriage.

Actually no. Civil unions are not (in the US) granted the same numerous legal benefits that marriage is. If they did, only religous homosexuals would probably care about this.

Respectfully sir, it is only about rights - basic human rights. Homosexuals deserve the right to be acknowledged as beings not unlike heterosexuals, in that they experience love for one another in the same way as heterosexual couples do. They want to have equal rights of expression and acceptance. It is not about the word "marriage", it is, and has always been about equality.
