Two questions: why do you fear your father, and why isn't his ex-wife in prison?

1. Because of what he can [and has attempted] to do - and because... well, I was taught that we as children are made to fear our parents? Either way it's grown into me and won't let go.
2. Because A. she has good lawyers, B. her parent's bailed her out and C. she's a conniving, evil bitch. Unless you're talking about my mother, who he never divorced but went to jail for stealing mail. >.> and I don't know, they never found her and in the end made it so I never saw her.

Dave Pelzer wrote a few books about the horrific abuse he suffered as a child, and his series may benefit you. I tried to be light hearted with my intro to you but wanted to share that with you as his story and journey might help you. Hope things get better for you. No child should be treated in the manner you were. I'm sorry you've had to suffer so. You still have a bright future ahead; don't let this define you. My childhood was tough and I speak from experience. It's easy to let it become our identity. Sending good thoughts your way.

I did mean the stepmother. It's too bad people like her get away with the things they do. As for your father, are you remaining vague about him on purpose? If you don't want to spill the beans about what he's capable of doing, that's totally fine, but I can tell you from experience that talking about your fears is the best way to overcome them.

Well, let's just say he lifted me off of my *bunk* bed and was about to slam me to the ground when my sister showed up. He's constantly made threats to cut me off from my friends, remove me from the school system and make it so that I can't do anything other than sit on the sofa and stare at the wall. I cook for him, I clean for him, I'm at his beck and call. If I burn the food a little or it's under cooked, it's because I'm thinking about something else and he'll, in his own words "Rip *me* away from everything *I* love and take *me* away from school because if *I* have nothing but school to think about, *he* should take it away and make it so that *I* have only cooking and cleaning to think about."

I'd say it's a pretty valid reason to fear him.

Living with a man like that I'm surprised you even have access to a computer. My wife and I feel for you. We have a niece about your age in a similar situation who was talking about suicide not too long ago. Her mother (my brother's wife) constantly makes death threats at her, and won't take her seriously because it's an inconvenience. We got her in touch with a hotline that helped prevent the suicide, but the problems at home still persist: both verbal and physical abuse prevail.

Welcome. I have a dA account as well, but I don't make art. I just fave others'. Never knew there was so much drama on dA. Yes, there are lonely souls on there that try WAY too hard to be hip (or whatever). But I never even noticed any Great Purge of accounts. I guess I have knack for laying low.

Have fun here. Hope you find it useful.
