Nudity vs. Clothing
#41
RE: Nudity vs. Clothing
Um...

No one is really bothered by the fact that people do wear clothes. Many people would be bothered by people being naked, that's the thing.

If no one was bothered, fine. But many people are and this is how democracy works...

And people having sex?

What has that got to do with the argument? I'm sorry, I don't get it.

I made my point.

? That was your argument? I listed 3: people having sex, naturalists, and nudists. Naturalists and nudists are actually sometimes offended by the wearing of clothes (furs especially). I basically disintigrated your point that nobody is offended by the wearing of clothes.

I already pointed out the fact that we live in a democracy. Fewer people are bothered by being clothed than nakedness. If the vast majority of people were offended by clothes and preferred naturism, then maybe things would be different.

In short - you missed a part of my argument.

My point about no one being bothered was hyperbole... I meant a much smaller minority are bothered by clothes. There will always be exceptions that are in the minority, but 'democracy rules.' because...well; because democracy rules. We live in a democratic society.

Is it a fair law though? It is like an age/ethnicity/color line: it comes close to hitting many people (and even hits a fair few)... but it is certainly not something a person would call 'fair'.

You are mistaking popular votes for something being fair. Under this logic: the african slave trade was fair... because the majority of americans thought it was?

Um, have you seen the way some people dress? Just go to Walmart for an afternoon. You'll be bothered.

Some people just need to do society a favor and cover up. Really. There are certain things you just don't need to see. (shudder)

Yes... because moderate-severe acid burns on one's face make them hideous enough to warrant a paper bag over their head? Rolleyes
