Nudity vs. Clothing

Nudity vs. Clothing
Alright, so... Nudity.
I'm not going to post naked pictures of people or statues, but I would like to discuss this...

What's your view on public nudity? Is it artistic? Is it grotesque? Is it just... weird?
What do you think?

Personally, I think nakedness is artistic. :S While clothes are useful, since they provide...
• Warmth (insulation)
• The feeling of making us look skinnier (or fatter, depending if you want to be fat or thin)
• A way to express who we are (i.e. goths may wear blacks, preps may wear brights)
• Laughter and Happiness (illustrations on shirts)
• Art (designs)
But overall, I don't see the big deal of walking around naked on a hot summer's day... What do you think? :/

I had to laugh at out loud on this one.. Thank you for that.

I believe, "It can be" artistic...
I believe, "It can be" expressive...
I believe, "It can be" all of what you wrote...

However, it doesn't make it so all the time, and for that reasoning we have that wonderful gray area.

I have no problem with statues being in full nudity. I believe parents who try and hide their children from this are complete idiots, when all they have to do is explain a little and educate them to their fullest potential. (Which is what I have been doing for years with my own children).... .Tongue

As far as someone simply walking around naked, because it's a hot summers day...I would have to disagree with that one.. Unless of course you are on a nude beach or living in a nudist colony....LOL

Some people are okay with it, some certainly aren't. And we don't want a bunch of people screaming at a load of naked people all the time... right?

I believe it would be disturbing to get an erection and then you notice that you're walkin' 'round naked. o3o

Though I'm glad I made you laugh, even if I didn't intend on making it laughable. owo;

I'm not saying everybody should walk around in teh n00dz, though. You should be able to wear clothes if you want to (especially in the winter). But I'd like the option of walkin' 'round naked. =w= I find nothing sexual in nudity unless it's your partner.

I've just been on a lovely holiday to Croatia and saw way too many nudist on the islands. I was left mentally unstable after witnessing a hairy 80+ nudist, severely obese and lobster red, bending over to pick up his beer...

Craveman, I just became mentally unstable thinking of the picture you just wrote out for us....lol

Tails, I agree with the erection part.. That would be a very strange and nerve wracking.

I just believe that we have clothes for many reasons, and with "Protection" from the elements being part of that reasoning, I agree.

I guess, in the end, there really is no reason other than protection from the elements on why we could not just walk around naked when we want.

However, I personally like that everyone is clothed, and that includes myself.....lolol

Personally, I think that it is just embedded into us as a child that naked people are "nasty." I think I would also be horrible to see the lobster red old guy bending over, but, I think that is my(our) perspective b/c we were raised with clothes on, and we were told that it was "nasty." Although, I think it does feel much better to have clothes on at any time due to the contact with all of the things in our world.

A thought. Big Grin

We follow social norm - he's teh dude Smile

Kids are used to seeing nudity in statues and in movies etc.. It's not a big deal unless you make it one, which silly prudish parents do (& that's counter productive). 'Protection' enters into it if there is anything strange going on. Honest sex is fine IMO.

Under all of those clothes: you are nude. Why adorn/cover/paint the default model if you prefer the default model in some way to adorning/covering/painting the default model?

I think it is silly for a society to 'cover up' the body because they seem ashamed or embarrassed by it (or the like).

An erection is embarrassing now? Call me unabashed... but I am undisturbed. I am disturbed by presenting my non-censored body currently (for different reasons than many, i should think)... but I would hope my actions will enable the agitation to cease sometime in the future Smile

And I find that entirely non-scarring. Smile

This is mostly correct... although one can walk around naked in the 'elements'. I would certainly not recommend it... but it is usually possible.

Yes, it is entirely cultural and learned so far as the 'disgust' goes. I disagree that people find nudity (in itself) nasty, however... thus the porn industry, finding sexual appeal in nudity, nude art, etc (most of this disagreement is lodged in with sex).
