I'm thankful that I have a roof over me head and something to eat. Anything else is just extra. If you are grateful for the most fundamental things in life, the extras become much more enjoyable.

Yeah, I find it funny to say, "I'm thankful for..." when you are atheist. In any case, instead of thankful for a wife, for example, I would understand thankful to the wife for being the wife. Perhaps? Just a thought.
