Separation of Church and State New parties coming our way?
November 10, 2009 at 2:25 am
It seems to me that religion has been playing a decided and growing role in both parties. The house on C St coming to light, the conservative Democrates, the" religious right conservatives" seeming to split from the more center leaning Republicans, and so forth, are just a few examples that I have been talked about. There seems to be a definate agenda towards religion dominated government by some groups of people. They seem very serious in their intent and are quite convinced that they are being lead by their god.
Should we be taking this idea seriously and if so, why? If it could be a growing threat to separation of church and state, what, if anything can or should we do about it?

Well, as long as the we uphold the right to keep religious beliefs from the real world when it comes to the public, we should be fine. If one religion is allowed to make a choice in our government, why not all of them have a word or two right?
That would be horrid.

I have been reading "Deer Hunting with Jesus" by Joe Bageant. Bageant talks about how Theocracy is being promoted through the evangelical right. Bageant seems to point out that the far right is seriously ready to do what it takes to win.
Having been raised as a fundamentalist, I am aware of several ways in which they promote their agenda. I am convinced that many who don't have a first-hand experience with this "movement" fail to realize the full extent and seriousness of this. Some of my friends on the right are in a panic because they believe "death panels" are being created. I find it interesting as well as unsettling that people actually fall into believing these things. If people can be led in crazy directions like this in droves, what effect does that have on the future of Separation of Church and State?
I tend to believe that we are going to see an upset in our political party system as the religious right fights to take control of the our political system.
Does anyone else see it this way?

The american religious right share much with the taliban.
They used to be funny but I'm not laughing anymore, they flex their political muscle and negate the good that america once did.
Aids prevention prgrams that only support abstinence, pah.
Stopping stem cell research double pah.
Attempting to prevent abortion while decrying the lower class masses hypocrits.
But worst of all they try to teach creationist lies in school, so trying to drag one of the most progressive countries back to the bronze age.

"The american religious right share much with the taliban"
There certainly seems to be a growing parallel between the taliban and religious right. To name a few:
1. leaning toward a patriarchal family dynamic
2. an obvious recrutement and cohesivness
3. a belief that their religion is the only way to heaven
4. fighting for political domination
5. a willingness to use violence and conspiracy theories
6. endocrinating young children

As an American Citizen who doesn't reside too far away from one of the last Presidential runners...(Mike Huckabee), It scares the hell out of me to know that this idiot could be our next President.
He's always in the papers here visiting churches and attending Christian ran functions. I'm sure he'll be back up on the stand come 2012.
Keep in mind, this is the same idiot that apparently pulled funding from a Mental Hospital, when he was Gov. in Arkansas, in which when asked why he did what he did, his answer was; "They just needed to find God".
mmkkkk....So the reason why people are mentally ill, is because they just haven't found Jesus/God yet??...
I think I'm going to be sick.....Maybe it's them demons in me.......
