Yeah, I'm dealing with two specific anti-vax nuts. The first one is pretty obviously uneducated and can't seem to form a compete sentence without demolishing the English language. He believes in holistic medicine and actually rejects the germ theory altogether. I was kinda surprised to find that kind of lunacy in a world where you can actually see pathogens under a microscope. But, no, he's convinced that people get sick not from bacteria and viruses, but from eating processed foods and red meat. *facepalm*

The next one at least understands grammar and he was tending to be a bit quieter at first. When he came forward, his claim was that he has a couple of family members who worked for the CIA and because of that he doesn't trust what the put in the vaccines. That goes into some Alex Jones paranoia there and, fortunately, I think this guy only has a distrust of flu vaccines, not vaccines altogether. I suppose this one is far less dangerous, even if he is still an idiot.

Meanwhile, their body count keeps climbing. How many people have died because of getting a vaccine? Not very many. Has anyone died because of them?

'Holistic' for me means "treating the whole", as such that includes vaccinations, general hygiene, clean water AND whole foods.

I would agree that eating copious amounts of 'processed foods' can be detrimental to your health... Am currently baking my own bread because of the high amounts of Soy protein and additives that keep bread 'Fresh' for a week.

As far as I am aware... the 'body count' for death by vaccination is very low compared to the 'body count' for death from NON-vaccination.

I've only been Vaccinated once in my life for polio, I was about 9 years old, not long after the vaccine I started to have fits that lasted for 4 years, I also grew up with mental illness which developed into schizophrenia.

Huge bugbear of mine. I'm all for Holistic... In the right place. If but it's taken on a weird meaning. Now it often means

"I'm not trained in the particular type of boo boo you've come to me with but I AM trained in a particular type of woo which I'm convinced affects everything, so I'll do some stuff on that while I wait for your symptoms to get better via regression to the mean. That'll be £40 please"

Sometimes reductionism is a GOOD thing. But you talk about treating the symptoms these days people look at you funny! What if I WANT my symptoms treated?

The other thing about "Holistic medicine" is that it's bloody hard / impossible to test. Science works by reducing variables and generating a falsifiable hypotheses. Holism specifically seeks to include all variables! Convenient no?
