I wouldn't want to see anyone coming into a store with everything covered. It would look suspicious, like they're about to rob the place. It would be kind of funny, having this discussion with a muslim person. One side saying she should cover everything because she'd risk going to hell (because muslim men don't know how to keep it in their pants), and me saying it looks suspicious because she's concealing her identity.

It is called the niqab... the full face covering. This I think should not be tolerated in secular societies where the exposure of the face is the norm.

I do feel pity for those who insist on wearing the full burka or chardor in Australia as the temperatures here can get very high even in the early hours of the morning

Secularism doesn't mean no freedom of religion. It just means governing decisions aren't made for religious reasons and the governing body doesn't impose religions on people.

Could you define what you mean by public square? And I think that adhering to a religion is not the same as bringing religious thoughts to something. A muslim accountant who wears a hijab while doing her job isn't bringing religion into her job. It's still the same job.

If that is secularism I'm no longer for secularism. But I highly doubt that's what secularism is.

The big problem is the idea of "saving" people. Actually practicing Mathew 6, and keeping your religion private, goes against the idea that they're trying to keep people from going to hell. So every second spent not praising Yahweh is a second you risk burning forever. So they have to spread it everywhere.
