We were on a bus, he was standing and walking towards the door, trying to grab one of the handle bars available for people to hold on to. He was missing it by some 2 or 3 cm... after his 2nd or 3rd failed attempt, I just grabbed his hand and laid it on the bar. He said thank you and I said don't mention it. and he went on his merry way.
Now that you say you don't like people touching you... I think I may have been a bit rash there... :-?

I think it depends on the situation. I don't even like strangers touching me. I think it would be worse if I didn't know they were there and then someone touches my arm.

And drich, you attempted to fool a blind person into thinking she has a jesus fish avatar for your own amusement. This would be equivalent to someone giving you the wrong directions in a foreign country whose language you cannot speak. You're an asshole.

Most people aren't going to chew your head off for it but it's best just to let someone ask. If you startle or scare someone they may react really badly.

I may have said something at the same time as I reached for the guys hand... but can't remember. And I remember holding it from below, which is usually a comforting/supportive way of holding someone's hand...isn't it?

That's fine. And if the guy didn't seem offended I'm sure you're fine. Like I said in my original post most of my problem with people touching without asking has to do with people doing weird shit like coming up to me and grabbing my hand and wanting to pray. And living in the south this happens more often than you think . At least once a week.

Big Grin

if it were my intention to 'fool' a blind person i would not do it in plain sight Wink of everyone. i would have PM'ed the person.

I asked a question, concerning how this person chose a Jesus Fish for an avatar.

To ask a question of this nature is to seek a confirmation or correction. Meaning I was trying to assess how the process actually works.

I actually think lying to a forum member on purpose, specifically to a member that is partially sighted and hence who might not be able to verify that the lie in fact a lie, is probably one of the most reprehensible and diabolical things I've ever seen on the forum.

It was a dick move, Drich. Utterly reprehensible.

That you don't see it - and in fact ROFL at one who rebukes you for it - speaks volumes about your lack of character.

Drich, to you I present the wise words of Toph Beifong - "I'm beginning to wonder who's really the blind one around here".
