assuming that my corpse can be reanimated why would it NOT be me in it?

Your mind is a computer without a proper save function; the moment it switches completely off, all the data is wiped. Even if medical science progresses to a point that they can unfreeze your corpse and reintroduce precisely the same set of electrical impulses and conditions from the moment of your death, it's entirely unclear whether that would be "you," or just someone else with your last living brain state.

I don;t think that is correct at all. Memories are made of physical connections. AFAIAC you are your living brain state.

Personally, I doubt very much that transhumanism will go anywhere - it seems to have all the earmarks of being a dead end.

That being said, transhumanists don't do anyone any harm, so have at it. Your business, not mine.

Please list the earmarks

Yup. I'm not in the business of trying to get anyone else to try it- There are several hundred of us, some extraordinarily rich.

You are more than your memories, however.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's impossible to ever happen, I'm just saying that right now, you're kind of rolling the dice on this one.

Like what a spirit? a Soul? your memories and your personality are hard wired

There is nothing to lose. The rest of you will definitely cease to be. I may well not.

I've never been one to adopt extraordinary beliefs on the off chance they would lead to immortality.

Its not a belief Its an experiment. I think the chances are extremely good. Anyway I have no kids and I can't take it with me and a small chance is better than no chance at all.

RE: transhumanism
Thank you.

It takes the fear of death from me. I think that if it works then I will be completely unaware of any time passing and it will seem as if I will just wake several hundred years into the future. If it doesn't then I will be unaware of the failing.

I intend to complete the procedure in Switzerland where I can chose the moment of death and ensure that the preservative solution is injected immediately post mortem. Its infuriating that whilst I will be interred in Arizona US law forbids me from taking my own life.
