Dusted off an old sketch sheet and uploaded it today. I'm using the imgfit tag, original is 768 pixels wide. I'm trying some different ways to ink highlights on 'leather.' The old way is that muscular lady on the top right, the newer way is the elf female on the top left.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

What I've been painting when I should have been framing:
It's part of an ongoing musical instrument portrait series.

We were meant to copy a religious icon and recreate a 14 century panel painting. I just found a painting of some girl instead, attempted to replicate her and put the gold halo around her head. The gold leaf and raised halo were requirements but I didn't necessarily want to do a replica of an actual religious icon.
So this is a painting on layers of gesso powder over wood. Hand mixed tempera paint using eggs, water and raw powdered pigment. 24k gold leaf.
"Yes, I am a Free Lover. I have an inalienable, constitutional and natural right to love whom I may, to love as long or as short a period as I can; to change that love every day if I please, and with that right neither you nor any law you can frame have any right to interfere. And I have the further right to demand a free and unrestricted exercise of that right, and it is your duty not only to accord it, but as a community, to see I am protected in it. I trust that I am fully understood, for I mean just that, and nothing else."

Sorry these are bigger than normal but since they're art, it's nicer to see a larger image, rather than a tiny one.
I'm not a painter, I'm not a fan of the mess but for my museum and gallery course last year we did a traditional painting techniques module.
This assignment was to pick a portion of an Impressionist painting and replicate it. 8x10" canvas, oil paint and I'm sure most people can figure out the painting it came from.
