I like Voltaire because he is the father of 'epic fail.'I guess you don't know, Voltaire was NOT an atheist. He was a Deist. He once wrote, " It is perfectly evident to my mind that there exists a necessary, eternal, supreme, and intelligent being. This is no matter of faith, but of reason." He was anti-Christian and especially anti-Catholic. However, that is not the same as being an atheist. No one mentioned Robert G. Ingersoll! He was the best-known freethinker of 19th century America, and he did more to popularize skepticism than any other person of that era. His output amounts to 12 volumes, and most of it is still fresh and up to date even more than a century after his death.

At least he, unlike Biblical prophets, had the balls to make a precise prediction and give it a time frame. If he'd have said "someday, Christianity will die out", then his prediction could never be proven wrong (and, like Biblical prophecy, it would be worthless).
Tim Minchin
Tracie Harris Stephen Fry Neil DeGrasse Tyson (probably; he has good reasons for not coming out and I don't blame him for it at all) Lawrence Krauss, especially after his opener to his Life, The Universe and Nothing: Has Science Buried God? talk with WLC; he usually wouldn't make my list, but after that...
