Hahha! I don't know about that, but I'm glad that my name tickles someone's "make out" bone Big Grin

And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. There was a guy who played for the New York Rangers in the 70's by the name of Pete Stemkowski. He once said he was thinking of shortening his name to "Ed Stemkowski."

Actually, the only time I would change my name is if I suddenly woke up as a man. In that case I would call myself the name my parents were about to give me (they thought for a long time before my birth that I was a boy), Jarl-Einar Joakim Smile

I love my name! I am also fond of the short version of my name, which is what I go by here and everywhere else, really.

If I changed it, it would be something like Ramona or Valentina.

I'd probably choose something shorter, European, and easy to remember.

I'm tired of a round of "What?!" whenever I introduce myself, followed by a bland smile which says they're never going to refer to me by name. ever.

Jun appeals to me, even though that's not European, but people would still mispronounce it.

OK, so I guess this means real names. I'm Cory, which I don't mind, but I like "Keith", "Hans" and "Gregor" quite a bit as well. Also, I wish my last name were hyphenated, not smushed together into a brand new last name.

AFA forum name, I've never been good at picking those. "C172" is where I was (am?) on .com as well. But on a couple soccer boards, I am "Nacional Tijuana", the name of a defunct pro soccer team in TJ.

RE: If you changed your name
I don't think I'll change my name, in the same situation as rasetsu because it's a proper east asian name. You know how most people with chinese names have given themselves english names when they come to N. America or other western places? Because it fucking sucks to have your name mispronounced 9 out of 10 times and furthermore, have it misspelled by people who can't spend 3 more seconds to check how they spelled a foreign name. So I hate it even more when we get shit from western people or people of other cultures for changing our names, implying that we're trying to be western and don't appreciate our roots. A dumbass once asked my friend (chinese name as well), right after she introduced herself, why didn't she get herself an english name. Yes, sure, I'm sorry that my name, which was given to me by my parents, one of whom spent 9 months pregnant, is inconveniencing you. What would you like it to be? I'll change it, just for you.

In conclusion, I'm keeping it, now we're both annoyed. Net gain.

Sorry for the rant. But you have no idea how annoyed I get when I meet one of those people who think they can get by without learning how to pronounce or spell my name. It's alright if you try and get it wrong, but don't just skim over it like, right, I'll never learn that, I'll just try really hard so that I don't ever need to say your name again.
