If i was going to study Physics i would more likely go the Quantum route over astrophysics.

I'm not sure which route I personally would want to take. From what I've read about the studies though, quantum physics can quite often overlap with astrophysics and be the driving force of discovery in that field too. In that case I think quantum would win hands down as it can reach so far beyond the microscopic realm it describes.

That is also true. I'm very interested on the effects of Quantum Gravity over the event horizon at the moment, something that certainly entwines the two fields.
