FUCKING NOTHING!!!

The Task Manager and Copy/Move dialogue are a very nice step forward. The removal of the Start Menu makes me want to strangle all of Microsoft at once.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Speaking of operating systems.
I run about a dozen PCs in my house for various reasons.
Owning a few dedicated machines doesn't have the same problems as trying to load everything onto a single swiss army computer and keep it secure. You can keep them clean and fast. My spouse uses 3 in a private consulting business. Each is dedicated to a specific client VPN and keeps everybody's data physically separate. One is offline 99% of the time because it is only used in talking to the bank accounts (Ubuntu, GPG, Tor & TrueCrypt on that one.) Not much is more secure than an air gap.
BTW they're essentially free if you buy a couple of generations back.

I've got two W98SE machines currently up. One runs a small CNC mill in the basement and the other runs a large format printer in the spare bedroom. You'd be surprised how fast an old leaner OS runs on a multi GHz machine compared to a new fat one.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat? Huh

If 8 had the same start menu as 7 - all would be good.

Sooner or later, everybody comes around to the same truth. Computers, basically, suck.

A friend of mine once owned a computer store... he says computers are only good for one thing: porn. It's the ONE thing that ALWAYS works. Wink
