Meh, you knew this would happen. The whole "debate" over the debt ceiling is just so much posturing.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Maybe they actually learned a lesson from their approval lessons plummeting whenever they create one of their fiscal crisises.

Um, the reason it is happening is because that collection of dickheads that make the up tea-party caucus will not let him pursue any other course. Boehner is surrendering by allowing the bill to pass with Democratic votes.

Already the fascist wing is calling for his ouster as speaker.... which would probably not be a bad thing as he is impotent anyway.

They haven't learned a fucking thing.

That's some of the posturing I am talking about. They know that they have to raise the debt ceiling (which itself strikes me as a ridiculous idea that no longer serves the purpose of making congress appear to be "fiscally responsible") because there are only so many times that you can "shut down the government" (snicker). They won't admit defeat, of course, they will just threaten to remove Boehner (oh, that will change everything!) and claim to stand on principle, or whatever crap allows them to pretend to save face.

I don't think the tea baggers know that at all. They merely lack the votes to pass an alternative which is as irresponsible as they want.

Heh, that just lets them play the victim, which at least provides some comedy relief. Remember, keeping them in the public eye has the benefit of reminding people what can happen if they ever get enough of a majority to do real damage. Although in a nation that is ~80% theist, that could go spectacularly wrong...
