Communes
Does anyone have any experience with communes? I really love the idea of communal living; sharing skills and resources, etc. I've been looking through a directory of communes (intentional living) in California, and they don't all seem to be Jesus freak cults. I'm in a position right now where I need a life change, and something like this is very tempting. Pros? Cons?

Pro, .............

Con: hippies, hippy living, people with dirty feet walking throughout your house/living space.

Pro,...............

Con: have I mentioned hippies yet? Hippy philosophy dictating how you live your life, discussions on how to further decrease your carbon foot print, while ironically increasing one's ability to leave an actual dirt foot-print where ever he goes.

Pro, ................

Con, hippies stink, because they put poo on everything trying to make things greener..

Pro,...... You have low to no rent..

Con, everyone has low to no rent which attracts HIPPIES!

Pro... I am sure there is a big pot farm or grow house some where that pays for all of this..

Con, everyone goes to jail for manufacturing and distribution of a controlled substance.

Actually that's a pro for society..

I think I'd take 1,000 hippies over a bigoted fuckwad like you.

I'm not totally sure, but I get the vague feeling that Drich might not have a high opinion of hippies.

I don't have any experience with communes. It's got to be better than highly religious communities, though.

All I can think of is that movie 'Wanderlust' with Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd

So... yeah... the hippie thing doesn't really bother me, and in fact, I'm more than cool with it. Not all communes are hippie-tastic, though.

More often than not those sites will have links to other sites that may be of interest to you.
