Moral Dilemma
#71
RE: Moral Dilemma
No one is saying rape isn't bad. It's just not as bad as listening to someone get tortured because a third party wants to wait until marriage before her cherry gets popped. Besides, unless she just doesn't know about what's going on, the sex would most likely only count as statutory rape. I doubt she'd be like "I'd rather someone else get tortured to death than give up my virginity".

You have to be joking right? I would kill in a heartbeat to protect someone I love. Rape isn't nearly as bad as murder, so why are you so surprised & horrified?

No, I'm not fucking joking. Fuck you.

You know what, ego? I used to laugh at you like you're a funny little kid. Now, I think you're as disgusting as this thread, and frankly, I'm nervous for the day your mommy and daddy unleash you onto the rest of the world.

What, are you saying that rape is as bad as murder? Or are you saying I am wrong to do whatever it takes to defend the people I love?

I disagree. But then... I am a death god, so... I guess that's to be expected.

RE: Moral Dilemma
I've read a number of stories from women that were raped. It fucks them up for decades if not life. PTSD to the extreme.

I don't think most of them ever really get over it.

RE: Moral Dilemma
I've never been raped, so I can't really say how much I'd expect someone to be traumatized by it. Everyone seems to believe it's about the worst thing you can do to a person short of killing them. Maybe even worse than death, though there are worse ways to torture someone.

RE: Moral Dilemma
I only asked those questions to get an idea of the situation - I mean if I could gauge how much this psycho weighed I could then plan some kind of escape - tell the girl to pretend till he comes back in and wallop him, or wait until he comes back in to see why there is no sound then wallop him.

Though if it came down to it I could explain to the girl if she would consent she would prevent my love from dying but its still a pretty horrible scenario.

I think that's the point of the OP. Given no clearly valued greater good or greater evil, on what basis should one decide how to act (or refuse to act)?

Given no right action, then the decision-maker might as well choose duty to family

Bringing peace to the suffering is such a kindness. Kill your loved ones today! Big Grin

Very few 'better' by themselves (in certain situations)... but it's hard to reach the apex of pain without at least including rape.

I kind of prefer death.

Your actions depend utterly upon the incompetence of others. That is a dangerous element to trust in.
