The redneck strike again.

We're 84 pages too late to prevent that.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Simply repeating the same bullshit assertions doesn't make them any more likely to be true.

You fail repeatedly because you don't know the difference between an explanation or a demonstration, and an assertion. And since you don't, you give assertions when what is needed are explanations or demonstrations.

You fail yet again.

Gee, now you lost yourself.
The typing and posting was done by a zombie not by you.

Very hard if we keep on doing the same things.
Very easy if we change but change does not come easy for rednecks.
Suppose the rednecks stop eating meat.
Considering that to make 1Kg of meat it takes over 10 Kg. of veg. proteins.
In this way we would have enough food to feed the whole planet many times over.
Consider also that by growing food for animals we have to cut down forests creating so many problems including desertification which in turn prevent us from growing more food.
Consider also the policy of destroying food in order to push the prices up.
These rednecks are not spiritual minded people otherwise they wouldn't behave like assholes.
So spirituality is the best tool for alleviating hunger.
Capish? Wink Shades

I guess I must have missed any reference to what "spirituality" was or could do -in any part- of that laundry list of idiocy. For the record, rednecks are extremely "spiritual" round these parts - just one of their faults.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

We are stuck in a body dear whatever.
The only way out is when natural death occur or if we kill ourselves and that is the time that the I separate from the body.
So until this time we and the vehicle are one.
That does not mean that we are the car. Wink Shades

Right, but my question was "are we the driver?" If so, where does the driver sit in our 'car'? Then -if you're still following me- does our driver's spirit body also require a driver? And if so, are we like a set of Russian dolls with drivers nestled in cars nestled in drivers nestled in cars .. ad infinitum?

You certainly missed.
Those who follow spirituality do not eat meat so they wouldn't cause food shortages unlike rednecks that is why spirituality can solve hunger problem.
Now a lot of people especially religious people say that they follow spirituality and yet they eat meat.
Unfortunately for them they haven't got a clue what spirituality is.
Religion and spirituality can not go hand in hand.
While religion is an external search spirituality is internal but it would be a waste of time to explain this point to dogmatic people.

It would be interesting to know how these "spiritual" rednecks get this spirituality from.
Maybe they find spirituality inside the lambs cutlets.
Very interesting indeed. Confused Fall

This is an interesting philosophical point whatever but no, it doesn't go ad infinitum.
The end of the search is within and anyone with an human body can reach this goal.
It is all about consciousness more or less developed.
A driver in total control with the consciousness totally developed is the mighty spirit and this driver does not need to rely on anybody else.
When you reach this stage you are God and God does not have a beginning and an end but to reach this stage of consciousness it takes time so it is easy for you to think that you are a limited consciousness in need of external help and the idea that you are the vehicle keep on persisting.
As i just said yesterday we are all one with the body but at the same time the body is not us.
It is all in the consciousness mind to believe in this or that that is why it is so important to develop this consciousness entirely so the confusion get cleared. Angel

Is Riketto a high school science project where some guy has programmed a computer to pass the Turing test by making it string random bullshit in sentences?

If yes, congrats to the high school programmer who managed to make a computer this irrational. If not-- Jebus save us all!

"Those who follow spirituality" most certainly eat meat, but I won't hold that against them - because eating vegetables causes the same problems while being incapable of solving the same problems..regardless of whether or not spirit -is-, or -is involved-.

I know what you mean although I don't follow your belief system.

There's an interesting interview with Sam Harris on the Psychololgy today website.

Quote:In what sense is the self an illusion?

For me, an illusion is a subjective experience that is not what it seems. Illusions are experiences in the mind, but they are not out there in nature. Rather, they are events generated by the brain. Most of us have an experience of a self. I certainly have one, and I do not doubt that others do as well – an autonomous individual with a coherent identity and sense of free will. But that experience is an illusion – it does not exist independently of the person having the experience, and it is certainly not what it seems. That’s not to say that the illusion is pointless. Experiencing a self illusion may have tangible functional benefits in the way we think and act, but that does not mean that it exists as an entity.

Similar ideas about the self can be found in Buddhism and the writings of Hume and Spinoza. The difference is that there is now good psychological and physiological evidence to support these ideas that I cover in the book in a way that I hope is accessible for the general reader.

Susan Blackmore uses the concept of membes for the self illusion in Waking From The Meme Dream

Quote:We are just temporary conglomerations of ideas, moulded together for their own protection. The analogy with our bodies is close. Bodies are the creations of temporary gene-complexes: although each of us is unique, the genes themselves have all come from previous creatures and will, if we reproduce, go on into future creatures. Our minds are the creations of temporary meme-complexes: although each of us is unique, the memes themselves have come from previous creatures and will, if we speak and write and communicate, go on into future creatures. That’s all.

The problem is that we don't see it this way. We believe there really is someone inside to do the believing, and really someone who needs to be protected. This is the illusion - this is the meme-dream from which we can wake up.

I have had to take a long route to answer my questions but I hope you can now understand my answers. "From what are we to awaken? From the meme dream of course. And how?" "By seeing that it is a meme dream".

And who lets the meme-unzipper go its way? Who wakes up when the meme-dream is all dismantled? Ah, there’s a question.

The thing is, people aren't obliged to believe in God or reincarnation in order to wake from the meme dream.
