I seem to remember Putin not being afraid of us under the W administration either, when they flexed their military muscle in Georgia. W had looked into his soul and got a man crush, as I recall.

Not true. We don't get any gas From Russia.

This simply proves to me that Slavs love to backstab and betray other Slavs.
I should also note that there are a number of seperatist movements in Russia. They should be supported, and the rabid muscowite dog will certainly remember its place.

Hate to break it to you but even your hero...John Fuckhead McCain...admits that we can't have a war with Russia. It seems McDipshit only wants to attack countries that can't fight back.

The epitome of the schoolyard bully.

Your guy's the one who keeps drawing Red Lines in the sand and threatening, "there will be consequences". It seems that BO only wants to run his big mouth and make threats he knows he can't back up....Russia invading Georgia in 2008 and now invading the Crimea is not the epitome of a bully? Those nations can't fight Russia....Looks like a good time for the U.S. to reconsider putting the missile defense shields in Poland and the Czech Republic.

I seem to remember that as well. Putin's timing was perfect. GW had only three months left of his term in office as well as having to deal with a hostile Congress controlled by the Leftwing in an election year. No way that Congress was going to approve any action that GW would have sought....Do you think that BO will walk back his 2012 statement to Romney that the cold war with Russia is over?

And yet Barack Obama has proven himself deft in his handling of Libya and Iran.

He's made the right call in staying the hell out of Syria. Why back Al Qaida against Assad? My enemy's enemy isn't always my friend. You might agree with me that this was our mistake with Stalin in WWII.

In the case of this crisis, there are economic options short of direct military intervention. Russia's economy is in trouble and it can't handle being isolated by the world community right now. I'd say "softer" diplomacy will yield better results than the saber rattling that the GOP uses first, last and always. We'll see.

Conservatives say Barack has been a disaster but I have yet to see any disasters, certainly nothing like the FUBAR of the last administration.

Obama is by far the most adept politIcian I have ever seen. That's what makes him so dangerous. His legacy will undoubtedly include his transformation of the liberal Democratic base to support his atrocious neoconservative foreign policy and the institutionalization of "too big to fail," immunity for Bush torturers, dirty wars via drones, and a host of other unfortunate results of his presidency that probably won't change anytime soon.

He made that call only after he couldn't get enough support from our allies and from our Congress when he wanted to give assistance to the Assad opposition.

I haven't heard that kind of sabre rattling from the GOP here. In fact, as Min posted, even John McCain is discouraging a military option right now....and I agree with you in part that we should play our economic options first, but also keep in mind that Putin supplies most of the oil to Europe. What do you suppose he's going to do when Europe and the United States presses Putin with economic sanctions?....he'll turn off the oil supply, refuse to pay Russia's debts on loans from the U.S. and Europe, etc.....Putin's not entirely helpless here, and he'll probably go into Ukrane anyway....in any event I agree that we should use the economic option, but in conjunction with flexing a bit of military muscle like putting off the spending cuts to our military, do some military exercises in the region with our allies as Putin just did, and reconsider the option to putting a missile defense shield in Poland and in the Czech Republic.

It's funny how Barack Obama is making threats and acting hostile to Russia, but the lefties on this board still find a way to say that it's all the Republicans, everything is the fault of Republicans. I swear that some of you guys can find a way to blame literally anything on Republicans.
