Damn, need to find the nearest US military base... Sad

Here's a Torrent site. I have no problems with this one in regards to malware or stuff.

You may need to download something like uTorrent if you don't already have one.

As I'm familiar with the history of early astronomy, the first episode of COSMOS (I just watched it now on Hulu) was pretty fantastic.

The crimes against Giordorno Bruno still manage to evoke outrage in me.

Yes, the science was basic, but I think Tyson and MacFarland were both trying to tap into one's emotions.

I liked it.

Episode 2 was much meatier and smoother than the first. I am glad they decided to lead off with evolution.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

I thought they did the evolution show first so they could get it out of the way and get on with "non-controversial" (less controversial?) material.

Got this on my fb feed:

Quote:Neil deGrasse Tyson Squashes Creationist Argument Against Science on National TV

During this week's episode, Tyson discussed the evolution of the eye, something declared for years by creationists as unexplainable by evolution, and thus evidence that life must be intelligently designed. Tyson masterfully explained how the eye evolved and how well scientists understand this evolution.

The "Cosmos" host also touched on how many species have evolved an eye, but did leave out the fact that there are over 40 known independent eye evolutions, something that very clearly discredits any intelligent design.

However, these facts mean nothing to creationists. Not long after "Cosmos" aired, Jay W. Richards, a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute (DI), a non-science, religious based foundation that fights to discredit evolution and replace it with faith based creationism, tweeted:

On eye evolution, the #Cosmos editors again failed to do a Google Search[.]

Richards' Twitter missive linked to a Discovery Institute PDF download that supposedly debunks the evolution of the eye claim. Yet the PDF is nothing more than praise for the Christian Right pundit Ann Coulter and a lambasting of Richard Dawkins, DI's public enemy number one.

When I was watching the segment about the evolution of the eye, I just had a huge grin on my face the whole time. Not only was it beautifully explained, but I could just imagine all the creationists stewing in their frustration and rage over it. It was glorious television.
