South Park: Stick of Truth

South Park: Stick of Truth
This game is surprisingly dope thus far. If you're not into RPGs, it probably won't appeal to you..unless you're just content playing a quality South Park game. And quality it is! It's solid from the graphics to the gameplay. The fighting is not too oversimplified but also not the least bit complicated. Most importantly, it's fun. The game is basically a fourth grader's imagination of Lord of the Rings as everyone dresses in various medieval garb and talks the talk...even though the "Kingdom of Kupa Keep" (the KKK) is in Cartman's backyard and the kids still have bed time.

The game is hilarious and watching cut scenes is no different than watching the show. So far I've run into Jesus, Al Gore, anal-probing aliens, Nazi zombies, and miniature underwear-snatching gnomes. Justin Beiber and Taco Bell include some of the butts of jokes. You really couldn't ask for a better South Park game.

The downsides are some obnoxiously long loading times and I've noticed some glitchiness in terms of the characters talking a few seconds before their mouths start moving. It's not that big of a deal though.

Overall, great game.

I've been watching Let's Plays of this, and it is quite good. I don't think I'll buy it, but if anyone is a fan of South Park, and doesn't dislike RPGs, they should get this game. It seems well liked, though there was a review that gave a few negative points. Like not being able to skip a character's turn in battle in case a strictly melee character can only attack a riposting character. Personally I'd like to see the player get a four member party instead of only having one friend at a time. You start on Cartman's side, but fortunately get a chance to switch sides later.

Yeah those are definitely all things they could have improved on. I'm kind of hoping they'll do a sequel and fix some of those smaller gripes people might have. The plots and different characters they can bring into South Park are basically limitless.

I think Butters would be my favorite helper. Any healer NPC is going to shoot up my list of preferred characters, especially if he can kick ass as well as heal.

Butters is actually surprisingly pimp, especially once he levels to the point that he has his final special ability. With Professor Chaos and the Mage class' Pyre Ball endgame spell, I was killing pretty much everything that wasn't a boss in one turn.

I've only watched the scenes that those pussy Australians edited out.

Australians and Europeans, I'll thank you to remember. Big Grin

Besides, I think we Aussies fared slightly better in the censorship stakes, since the crying koala we got in place of those scenes is pretty funny anyway. Tongue

Pussy Europeans, too. Sorry. Tongue

Still, how fun is the crying koala compared to performing an abortion?

Actually, the Aussie release still has the very last abortion scene, I guess since it isn't done on a person. Given that we can't play the other one, it kind of comes out of left field and is hard to get a hang of.

Also, consider how skewed the priorities of the ratings board must be, that the abortion scene gets cut, but Mr Slave's summon ability, that involves his anus and can be performed even on the children enemies, is still in the game. But then, that kind of nonsense isn't rare, here. Dodgy

I'm not sure why some countries would censor it. It's South Park. It's not a kid's show, and certainly not a kid's game. It's rated for adults, I've heard, so if some ignorant parent buys it for their kids, it's their own fault.

There was this one time where Douchebag used Nagasaki in front of Cartman, and he said someday he'll teach Douchebag to do better. Ordinarily I'd think he was just having a big ego, but honestly he can use a mega fart that's on fire. You might say he's not totally talking out of his ass.
