What's up?

I supposed a clarification is in order: is she the one bringing the subject of her new religion up, or are you?

And for what it's worth, I agree with Mister Agenda that it might be worth while to try and get her involved in a charity or community group; maybe you could volunteer and invite her along to the activities?

I was thinking you should give her a real bible (not the fake one from the JWs) and she can see the difference.
However, my wife says, "tell him to pray for his wife."
That the truth comes to her.

This atheist got married to a good Catholic girl in a Catholic Church in front of a Catholic Priest going on 30 years now. We agreed early on that personal metaphysics is well ... personal and shit.

You did catch in the OP that the husband who is posting here is a non-believer (his description), right?

You do understand that prayer does not work, right?

You do understand that the bible is a load of crap, right?

Because suggesting he should try to turn her away from their fucking cult towards your fucking cult is the best advice anyone gave an atheist ever.

I'll go out on a limb here and guess that the prof does not understand these things.

But the prof's cult is the correct cult! How do we know? Just ask him!

Welcome, welcome!
Do enjoy the forum and vent away to your heart's content.
You sir are in a sticky situation... but not one you cannot get yourself out of.

Threaten to leave and take the kids if she doesn't stop being stupid.
Make her choose... and make her be fully aware that christianity is supposed to be all about family... christmas and stuff.

Don't bluff, get some place (temporary as it may be) to go with the kids if she chooses poorly.

One other option... you guys sleep on the same bed, right?
poke her... screw her... keep going all night long... if you can... make her tired to go do religious crap during the day... repeat daily!

JWs do not celebrate Christmas. And threats like that just serve to reinforce that she's "in the truth" and that Satan is pulling out all the stops to get her to leave. It is a very insidious approach that they take in order to get someone to join and then make it difficult to leave. And I am aware that recently they started a fresh round of "the end is really really REALLY close this time!"

The key is to find a way to get her to realize that "the end is nigh" has been a JW message since well before they took the name Jehovah's Witnesses. It can be very difficult to get a JW, even a new one, to look at the WT organization's dirty laundry. JWs do not use hellfire to intimidate people, but the fear of missing out on paradise can be just as effective in keeping a person from peeking behind the curtain.

One thing for sure: they push the persecution complex diligently, so any attempts to bully her or force her to leave simply serves to make her more certain that she has found the one true religion.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
