Who is Jon Snow's Mother?

I'm a HUGE fan of GRRM's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. One of the most intriguing characters/story lines is Jon Snow, and who his mother is.

I'll hide this in spoilers in case you haven't read the books. The TV series doesn't really make too much of this but I think it will be monumentally important later on...

So really my theory is more than just about his who his mother is. It's about who his parents are. Most would think Ned Stark is his father, but I don't think so. I think Ned Stark's honor is too solid for him to mar it by fathering a bastard. I think Jon is a Targaryen as well as a Stark, but not Ned's son.

So who is it? Well his mother is Lyanna Stark (Ned's sister.) His father is Rhaegar Targaryen. Which would explain why Ned 1) took care of Jon Snow, and 2) concealed the identity of what he thought was the only remaining Targaryen in the realm. This would also be Lyanna's unknown secret that she made Ned swear to her and Rhaegar before she died in a bed of blood.

It would also explain why there were three Kingsguard (I don't remember which ones) at the Tower of Joy with Lyanna and no king (to guard Rhaegar's heir). This was after she and Rhaegar fled there at the beginning of Robert's Rebellion.

Also, the only other person that knows is Howland Reed. Which would explain Jojen and Meera's interest in Bran, and the closeness of the two houses.

Lastly, Daenerys' vision in the House of the Undead (forget which book) in which she says there must be a third heir (Daenerys, Viserys, and Jon Snow) because the dragon has three heads.

Here's my prediction: Jon Snow and Daenerys will marry (Targaryens marry siblings, after all) and rule Westeros as well as Esteros.

Hence: A Song Of Ice (Snow) and Fire (Targaryen).

Boom.

There's a chapter, when Davos goes there and some of this is left lingering, maybe on "A Dance With Dragons"....

Also, there's the possibility that Jon Snow is the son of Ned's brother, Brandon, who was betrothed to Catelyn, but died during the war...


Anyway... he's... sort of dead now that he's been stabbed in the back several times, so who cares?!
