Come See Me, Dammit!

(This post was last modified: April 6, 2014 at 2:17 pm by My imaginary friend is GOD.)
I want to meet people on these forums in real life. I love you guys. I know y'all are real far away, but I'm a really cool person totally worth meeting. I live in Birmingham, Alabama, but I promise you won't get murdered or chased by the KKK if you come here. We actually have a lot of hippies and atheists and gay people and pretty trees here. I'm friends with the Birmingham police (they used to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with me). If anyone gives us trouble, I'll just kill 'em.
I've been in this city all my life, so I know all the best places to go. We can pick a lively place, a quiet place, a bar, a restaurant, a park, whatever.
Setting a date will be tricky, so please tell me the soonest you could be here if you want to come see me.
I can introduce you to the local atheist groups, and you can hear all about what it's really like to be an atheist in Alabama. Some of what they have to say might surprise you.
Birmingham has some great restaurants of like, every imaginable sort. Indian, Middle Eastern, Cajun, Southern, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Mexican... you name it, we have it. While you're here, I can give you recommendations of where to go when you get hungry. Most of them will be extremely affordable.

I drove through Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama one time. It was a relief to get to fucking Georgia.
I'll never go back. But if you ever get to Phoenix........

I'll never go back. But if you ever get to Phoenix........ Birmingham, Alabama is not the same as Everywhere Else, Alabama. There are a lot of liberals in the city, due probably to my college (an urban campus) being there, and all the black people.

You still have to go through Redneck wonderland to get to it.

Next time I'm in the US I'll try to swing by.
I have an online friend who used to live in Mobile (but has since moved to New York).

I'll be in B-ham next weekend visiting my brother. If you want to get coffee let me know.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I don't know if my mom will let me out of the house because I'm manic right now, but I would really like to see you, so we'll see how it works out.

I'd love to see you, but unfortunately it won't happen too soon as work has taken over my life and I won't see daylight until July or so..
I used to travel though Birmingham often. I like the city, but the 5 o'clock traffic is TERRIBLE! Great restaurants and fairly friendly people. Good Furniture shopping too!

Been through the southern tail once on I-10. So, legally I've been in Mobile city limits, but all I remember are trees (this was 1993). Left it on SR-163 to get gas in my father's Toyota Carolla. Not sure what town that would have been, but it was creepy.
I'm sure B'ham is much better. As a gymnastics fan, I noticed the NCAA's are taking place up in that city this season, so...that's one thing going for it.
