Astronomers spot most Earth-like planet yet
http://apnews.excite.com/article/2014041...32V81.html

Quote: LOS ANGELES (AP) - Astronomers have discovered what they say is the most Earth-like planet yet detected - a distant, rocky world that's similar in size to our own and exists in the Goldilocks zone where it's not too hot and not too cold for life.

The find, announced Thursday, excited planet hunters who have been scouring the Milky Way galaxy for years for potentially habitable places outside our solar system.

"This is the best case for a habitable planet yet found. The results are absolutely rock solid," University of California, Berkeley astronomer Geoff Marcy, who had no role in the discovery, said in an email.

A mere 500 light years away.

The galaxy needs a salutary example of what can happen when xtains gets a free rein. And I don't want the example to be earth.

500 years is just too far away , the fastest spacecraft we have goes in the speed of 17050 m/s , The speed of light is 299,792,458 m/s .

So your fastest spacecraft in the 21th century is moving in the speed of 0.005687% the speed of light .

That means that using the fastest spacecraft ever built, you can reach that planet in 10219853282 years ...

Exactly the amount time jesus promised to come back.
Exactly the amount of christians that do not know what their bible says.
Exactly the chances that a deity might exist.
Exactly the amount of times a christian has been facepalmed..

Actually, he fastest aircraft will take an infinite amount of time to reach this planet, there being no air between earth and this planet.
Tongue

Also, an aircraft will last about 1 millisecond before burning up in the air if it were to travel at 17050 m/s. 17050 m/s being approximately Mach 50.

The fastest space craft to leave solar system - Voyager 1 - is leaving solar system at 14.15km/s (only 14150m/s). Voyager I will cover 500 light years in a mere 8 million years.

8 million years is a blink of the eye in the history of the earth, being such an insignificant span of time that is it not even 1500 times as long as xtains thought how long the universe had existed.
