Interesting ... I've never heard of this. Turns out there are many, but this is the "most profound". 
They were talking about it on NPR's Science Friday.

I think this is a case where journalists sniffing opportunity for sensational headline latched onto second rate science that broke no new ground as if our fundamental understanding of the world had thereby been changed.
