Well quite obviously it fails on the "releasing the seas" front.

Okay then it is pretty much subject to one's interpretation like the belief preached in the qu'ran itself that the earth is flat and it is quite true that arguing with them might be a waste of time. Thank you though!
The idea is God created it. So yeah
BTW different translations Sahih International He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; Muhsin Khan He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. I'm willing to bet this actually happens all over the world. I haven't looked it up yet, but I don't think the Alaska instance is anything special...

Quran 15:19 "And the earth we have spread out (like a carpet); set thereon mountains firm and immovable; and produced therein all kinds of things due in balance." I'm an ex Muslim who learned the Quran in arabic. Now I know the people you're arguing with might say the Quran says this in 79:30 "He made the earth egg-shaped." They might say that Allah made the earth look flat to us when it's really egg-shaped. The counterargument to that would obviously be that the earth is neither flat nor egg-shaped, since it's a sphere. Edit: 15:19 also points out that the Earth is immovable. RE: Explanation needed
