I have heard about merging oceans in the Gulf of Alaska. Muslim friends have pointed out this specific part of the Qu'ran stating :
'' He released the two seas, meeting [side by side];
Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses.
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? "

My question (which is the argument of my friends to prove their belief in the Qu'ran and prophet Muhammad's words) is how would Prophet Muhammad know about this 1400 years ago? as quoting my friends ''None can know about it But Allah''?

Can someone please enlighten me over this particular subject without quoting any part of the qu'ran again?

I don't really read that, the wording is too vague as any religious text hence they can interpret that any way they can.

This is not enough an answer. They seem quite arrogant and await a sound argument on my part. They genuinely believe that atheists cannot possibly have an answer to how it is figured in their holy book of a fact just recently discovered by scientists.

The thing is that they don't have an answer either, not even a remotely solid argument.

You can't reason with stupid, you may try to get them smarter, with time, but at this time you are spending too much time with that. Don't care about it and go on with your life.

ETA: Tell them that an atheist needs extraordinary evidence to extraordinary claims. A vague text from dubious sources does not even comes close.

Releases two seas? Which two seas? What does that even mean? How do you "release a sea"?

Between them is a barrier? Again, what kind of barrier? Between which seas? If it's talking about some sort of land bridge, then that's hardly hidden knowledge. A dam or something? Again, wtf is so special and divine about that?

There is a place in the Gulf of Alaska where two oceans meet but do not mix.
This happened because fresh water glaciers melted and flowed to join the ocean water. Because of the difference in the salinity and densities of these two water bodies, a surface tension developed between them that acts like a thin wall which prevents them from mixing. The boundary between the two is outlined by a thin layer of foam.
