2319.2 Route designations: The number 47.

(a) No public way shall carry a designation of the number 47 or any multiple thereof (cf Milo Rambaldi, Ch. VIII Sec. 124.6).

(b) The signing of a public way with a shield bearing the bymber 47 or any multiple thereof is a Class G misdemeanor, with a penalty of no less than death by stoning but no more than a cash sum of 50,000 USD. If it is not possible to determine fault, then a public holiday shall be declared by the District Alan on the third day of the following month (up to and including but not counting the month of April).

(i) The holiday described in (b) of this section shall be referred to in all verbal and nonverbal contexts and communication as "Die Hircus", except by written exception by the District Alan.

(ii) The following acts of penance shall be engaged in by all citizens, residents, and visitors of the age of majority on Die Hircus: the eating of unbuttered toast; the complete desecration of one's lavatory, or payment of 500 USD in the absence of a lavatory; the slaughter of one goat; the composition of a poem containing the number 47 in the title but not in the text; self-flagellation.

(iii) Failure to engage all or any acts of penance as described in (ii) of this subsection is punishable by having a route shield bearing the number 47 on his/her property (in sæcula sæculorum).

© Any person found in possession of a route shield bearing the number 47 or a multiple thereof shall be immediately conferred the title of District Alan, except for and especially in the case described in (iii) of subsection (b).

(d) Notwithstanding any other Statute of the Land, no route shield, even if bearing the number 47 or a multiple thereof, may be removed, defaced, altered, destroyed, relocated, or manipulated in any way, except as stipulated in the Sunday edition of the Times (rescinded).
