Most native spanish-speakers are annoyed out here when you try to speak their language, at least in my experience.

In my experience these are typically 2nd or 3rd generation Americans that have decided to carry a heritage chip on their shoulder. They can go fuck themselves.

Native speakers that struggle with English are usually the most appreciative. Engaging a Spanish speaking American is more comfortable since they can quickly ask for clarification and help while practicing English.
