You mean without the existence of the idea of God. Just because without God, atheism is meaningless (literally), it doesn't mean God actually exists.

3Guys1Hammer - A Question for the religious

(January 4, 2010 at 4:06 pm)Rhizomorph13 Wrote: How are we, from our subjective perspective supposed to comprehend this objective truth you speak of? What tool should we use to check our understanding of the bible? Frankly, I think it requires a total change of perspective. As an atheist, your perspective (I think) is that you are the ultimate authority for you: you decide what is right and wrong, good and evil, and nobody, not even God, has a claim on your life. Everything, including your understanding of the Bible is decided by you. To understand the Bible as the revealed Word of God would require you to change this perspective such that God is and is the ultimate authority. If the Bible is not viewed with that perspective, the only thing you will get out of it is what you already think.
Again with the "you have to believe it to believe it".
And ya'll wonder why we call you silly christian.
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

Hmmm yes...
Dotard... part of me wonders if 'you have to believe it to believe it' is circular thinking ![]() ![]() EvF While I do consider myself the "ultimate authority" over mysefl; I am subject to the laws of the nation I belong to. My proposition is that both Christianity and Secular Humanism approach morals from a subjective viewpoint. I failed to make my point clear: Secular Humanism trys to build a moral code based on what is best for society according to data obtained from that society Christianity trys to build a moral code based on interpretation of scripture. Both methods rely on the interpretation of humans so they are both subject to the flaws from human interpretation.
