As per Robert Plant, they aren't meant to mean a damn thing.

When that fucker comes on my radio or my MP3 player, 9 times out of 10 I hit skip or change the station. The tenth time I don't even realize it's on til it hits the bridge, and then I turn the fucker up.

TL;DR: Skip the first five minutes.

LOL, the lyrics -are- what they -are- so that a little trick of timing can be accomplished..creating an abbreviated hook. It's almost as if people weren't forced to take music anymore.........
(as per all things on the periphery of the mystical....it serves a purpose in accomodating a mundane task, regardless of whatever drunken version of a story might be told afterwards)

No it doesn't. I followed one of the links provided by GalacticBusDriver and this is what we're supposed to hear if we play the song backwards -
