You should check out GreenManGaming from time to time too. They recently had Civ V complete for a song.

Played a game as Poland. Very pleasantly surprised with how powerful they are. One of those Civs that can go for any win-con with the help of its passive ability.

So after I got my pc back I've finally started a new game - I needed to start from scratch since I lost everything on my laptop - Now I'm playing with Rome, so far so good, 4 cities, 3 near coast, medieval age. I am using the policy of liberty a lot - I think it is that one, the one that allows you to grow faster.

Liberty, yes. Free worker and settler is nice. You know, the pyramids give two workers, and decrease improvement times, but I'm not sure if that bonus is just for the city that the pyramids are in, or for all cities.

Liberty is a really good one. I tend to go Tradition just because I mostly play tall. If I want to do anything else I'd 100% go Liberty. I really need to play some CiV again but the early game is just so long winded. By the time it gets good I've already been playing a while and get impatient.

Just start at a different age. I bypass the ancient age by default. With Rome I'm just too tempted to go tradition for the bonuses to the capital. Otherwise I believe liberty is better. Not that you can't get the other one later, especially if you're going for the cultural victory.

Yeah, I might give that a go. I can't even remember what the bonuses are off the top of my head. I do really like the free workers and free settler with Liberty.
